Caltex Woolooware is a generational family business that has been serving the Shire in some sense or another for over 68 years. Our family started here in 1948 on Princes Highway Sylvania Heights at Roy Moon’s Service Station. Roy was a dedicated motor mechanic and businessman who passed his passion and knowledge on to his son, David. In 1970, David commenced his Certificate III in Light Vehicle Service and Repair at Gymea TAFE, following his fathers passion for cars. Spending every spare moment under the hood, it was no wonder David was nominated for Apprentice of the Year in 1971. David went on to lease his first service station on Gannons Road in 1979 when the chain was still known as the Golden Fleece. When Caltex converted the centre in May 1989, we moved to Woolooware Rd and the workshop we have today. Our mechanics have a combined experience of over 50 years, and each have demonstrated excellence on all makes of cars. We are committed to providing personal and expert mechanical service and aspire for our workshop family to be at the heart of our community.

Sarah Moon - Proprietor
Since the time I could count, I was doing stocktake at Caltex. Bring your daughter to work days were frequent in my childhood, and my father ensured I learnt the business from the ground up. I officially began at Caltex at the age of 18, and haven’t looked back since. Together, we have realised a vision of community; knowing the names of those who walk through our door and providing the best possible service to our customers. When I took the reigns from my father in 2013 it was with a promise to grow with our home, the Shire.
Mo Khan - Workshop Manager
Mo is a fully qualified motor mechanic and celebrated light vehicle expert. Growing up on a farm, Mo began by making his own toys, constantly fiddling to satiate his passion for fixing things. As he grew up, he moved from toys to tractors and began his apprenticeship in motor mechanics, finishing in 1981. Mo demonstrated continuous excellence and was invited to be a TAFE College Lecturer, sharing his expertise to instruct others’ development in the field. Mo has over 35 years experience and has been with us for 18 years now. He is a well trusted fountain of knowledge and loves being so personal with the community, so feel free to come down and ask Mo about your cars’ maintenance.
Tim Wackwitz - 2IC
Also a fully qualified motor mechanic, Tim has been with us for 15 years and has always harboured a love of mechanics. As a teenager, Tim was constantly working on cars and doing them up, so deep was his passion that in Year 10 Tim topped the state in Power Mechanics. In 1995, that same year, he went for a week’s work experience and never returned to the classroom, accepting a job in the industry he loves. He has continued expanding his professional capabilities, as well as his knowledge of classic cars ever since.
